Before It Had a Name

Feb 01, 2026

This practitioner’s narrative documents the journey of meeting the jagged frontier of AI capability under the pressure of tight weekly publishing deadlines. The author takes apart the frustrating reality of standard generative AI, its tendency to confidently invent statistics, drift in voice, and produce bloated, repetitive text he calls SLOP (Superfluity, Loops, Overwrought prose, Pretension).

To survive it, he built a 38-agent immune system of rigid quality checkpoints that hold independent, blocking authority and keep substandard content from shipping. The result is an in-the-mud case study on why AI governance can never be a soft guideline. It has to be built into the architecture.
